My father Paul Young and I are members of the Pietermaritzburg Model Engineering Society (PMES), South Africa. In this section, you will find event information, as well as contact details for most live steam clubs around the globe (I am working on this).

Paul on his Lassie in 1972 at the Durban Society of Model Engineers (DSME), South Africa. This locomotive took him 3 years to complete and was a great steamer.

Paul at Umgeni Steam Railway, Pinetown in 2004, researching his GMAM Garratt. He was fortunate enough to have this full size Garratt only a few clicks from his workshop.

Here you can also take a tour of our (small but complete) workshop. You will also be able to track progress on my father's SAR Class GMAM Garratt that he is building in 1" scale (3.5" gauge).
